LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — Conductor Sir Simon Rattle's battle for a new concert hall in London moved a step ahead after Chancellor George Osborne ordered an official feasibility study.
Rattle, who currently leads the Berlin Philharmonic, has led the campaign for a new concert hall for the city, telling the BBC that the city's current concert spaces were not up to international standards.
According to The Evening Standard, London Mayor Boris Johnson has added the study to his long term economic plan for London and that the feasibility study "will enable us to understand fully the potential to build that centre and help to cement our position as a world city for culture."
Rattle suggested that he would consider a return to London if there were a "proper" concert hall. – Staff Writers
