Global Spectrum Gets Canadian Venue Contract

DAWSON CREEK, BC (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The City of Dawson Creek has selected Global Spectrum to manage the South Peace Community Multiplex that opens this fall. City Council ratified the recommendation made by J.R. Huggett, the independent consulting firm hired by the City to review and evaluate all the proposals that were received.

"We are extremely happy to have a firm with the extensive experience of Global Spectrum," says Dawson Creek Mayor Calvin Kruk. "Having Global Spectrum's involvement brings a vast amount of international experience to the table, but they also have experience in BC with facilities in Penticton and Abbotsford."

Global Spectrum was one of three firms looking for the rights to manage the facility, the others being NuStadia and Global Entertainment. Global Entertainment was the original management company expected to run the facility until plans to finance capital improvements did not materialize. Global Spectrum is not affiliated with Global Entertainment.

"This is an exciting opportunity for Global Spectrum to further enhance our business in British Columbia," said Global Spectrum Chief Operating Officer John Page. "With three new facilities under construction in the Province, we will be able to pull our Canadian resources together and combine them with our outstanding resources that exist at all of our other facilities to provide an incredible experience for our customers attending events at the venues we manage throughout British Columbia."

J.R.Huggett evaluated each of the proposals based on six criteria, including: local knowledge, experience operating arenas, track record and strategy to attract events, strategy to attract and retain an anchor tenant, business model proposed and viability of the business plan proposed.

Global Spectrum will be on site as soon as possible to manage the opening of the facility while simultaneously finalizing a long term management agreement with the city. — Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
