RIO RANCHO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The city has Global Spectrum has been brought aboard to manage the three-year old 6,500-seat Santa Ana Star Center. The arena serves as home to the New Mexico Scorpions Hockey team.
Global Spectrum will take over booking, scheduling marketing and advertising at the Center, The New Mexico Business Weekly reported. Helping them out at the Center will be two additional Comcast subsidiaries, Front Row Marketing Services and New Era Tickets, who will be the official ticket provider for the Center.
According to the Rio Rancho Observer, the arena has struggled financially since it opened and in January, the city terminated its contract with the venue's former operators, Global Entertainment, claiming that violated contractual obligations when they didn't generate sufficient revenue to service the arena's debt.
"It’s our intent to market the Santa Ana Star Center as a quality destination for the region where people will gather and enjoy Scorpions hockey and numerous other family shows and special attractions," said John Page, chief operating officer for Global Spectrum. "We also look forward to creating new and exciting promotional opportunities for our customers with our naming rights partner, Santa Ana Star Casino."
Global Spectrum has also been brought aboard to handle the Las Cruces Center, a new convention center under construction in the Central New Mexico market. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
