SAN ANTONIO (CelebrityAccess) — Live Nation's House of Blues brand announced that San Antonio’s historic Aztec Theatre will become the latest venue to join the HoB portfolio.
“San Antonio was the next logical move for us in Texas. It is a vibrant music market with a very large population base that we think is underserved at the club and theatre level.” said Ben Weeden, COO of House of Blues Entertainment, a division of Live Nation that will oversee The Aztec.
Weeden also noted that Live Nation plans to invest in The Aztec, with planned upgrades for the venue including a new VIP lounge, new dressing rooms and a new special events room for convention business.
Built in 1926, the 1500-seat Aztec Theatre is a notable example of the motion picture palaces constructed in the United States during the economic boom of the 1920s. It is decorated with with colored columns, sculptures, furnishings and murals, many of which are authentic reproductions of Meso-American artifacts. –
