(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Shawn Hunter, who joined AEG in 2003 as the organization’s first Chief Marketing Officer, has been promoted to the newly created position of President, AEG Sports.
“There is not a single executive that I have ever been associated with, nor in our entire industry, who is more qualified to assume this all encompassing role within AEG,” said Leiweke in a statement. “So much of AEG’s tremendous expansion, growth and success over the last 2 1/2 years is directly related to Shawn’s experience and knowledge of our business, supervision of our marketing, public relations, sales, merchandising and sponsorship staffs and strategies he has employed since joining our organization.”
Hunter’s responsibilities will include strategic planning and overseeing of business operations for all of AEG’s sports franchises, sports properties, events and tournaments among other company initiatives. He will also manage the same business units, which include marketing, advertising, public relations, merchandising, creative services and client services for all AEG owned or operated venues and worldwide entities.
Hunter’s reach will include teams such as the Los Angeles Kings (NHL), the Manchester Monarchs (AHL), the Reading Royals (ECHL), Major League Soccer teams Los Angeles Galaxy, Chicago Fire, Metrostars and San Jose Earthquakes, and various sports tournaments, camps and events.
He will be affiliated with AEG venues and entities including the STAPLES Center, The Home Depot Center, the Toyota Sports Complex, AEG Live and AEG Events and several new venues in development including the O2, the Berlin National Arena, the Sprint Center in Kansas City and stadiums in Bridgeview, Illinois and Harrison, New Jersey.
