HOUSTON, TX (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The first annual Venue Excellence Awards will be presented in Houston, Texas, July 26, 2010, during the International Association of Assembly Managers' (IAAM) VenueConnect – formerly known as the Annual Conference & Trade Show. These awards are intended to recognize venues that demonstrate excellence in the management and operation of public assembly venues.
The winners were assessed on four criteria: service to the community, team building/professional development, safety and security, and operational excellence.
"An award committee created criteria that would fairly and objectively score the nominated venues," said Kevin Duvall, Award Review Committee Chair. "A venue that excels not only within its internal development and operations but also in the local community is one worthy of receiving the Venue Excellence Award. Convention Centers – Oregon Convention Center, Portland, Oregon
Performing Arts Centers – Filene Center at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, Vienna, Virginia
Stadiums – PETCO Park, San Diego, California
Venue Education – Stephen C. O'Connell Center – University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida
