Is Danny Fields Reputation Worth $100 Million?

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Danny Fields former manager for The Ramones and Iggy & The Stooges is suing gay lifestyle magazine "Out" for $100 million dollars, claiming that they have damaged his reputation by attributing a quote to him that he claims he never made.

The quote, featured prominently in an article that the magazine did on the openly gay Fields stated "The ’70s was sure a lot of fun, but I was sure a lot of young. Boy, if you didn’t get laid, then it was your own fault. I don’t remember ever being inhibited by saying ‘I’m the manager of the band. If you want to meet them, come to my hotel room and sleep with me, and I’ll introduce you to them in the morning."

Fields denies ever having made this statement and has lodged suit against the mag's publishers LPI Media and Planetout Inc. The author of the story EIC Aaron Hicklin claims he cannot find the audiotape recording of the interview.

"My reputation is ruined because Out has called me virtually a sexual predator. It is atrocious. I never said that." Fields said of the quote "The implication is while my bands were playing, I was trawling the audience for kids.. like I used the performances as an excuse to cruise and pick up underage teens. The quotes are also so ungrammatical. I would never even talk like that. I have advanced degrees in English literature, They gay-bashed me."

The magazine offered Fields "a few thousand dollars" and 75 words to respond to the quote, but Fields has rejected that offer, apparently preferring to go with the lawsuit instead. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
