TOKYO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Actor/Comedian Russell Brand was deported from Japan last weekend due to his criminal history, according to tweets from his wife, Katy Perry.
"So…my husband just got deported from Japan," Perry tweeted on Sunday. "I am so. sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favourite place."
According to Reuters, Brand was detained by Japanese authorities shortly after his arrival due to his previous brushes with the law. Brand has a somewhat notorious history of drug and alcohol use, though he claims to have been clean since 2002 and has been arrested at least 11 times. His most recent legal scuffle came with charges of battery after he allegedly attacked a paparazzo at Los Angeles International Airport.
