Jazz Pianist Russ Freeman Dead

Jazz pianist Russ Freeman died June 27 at a hospice in Las Vegas. Cause of his death was not announced by his family. He was 76.

Freeman was best known for his supporting role in the early work of trumpeter Chet Baker, and served as Baker's musical director. Freeman's final jazz recording, "One on One" with Manne, came out in 1982.
