Justin Bieber Tour Earns $40m So Far

LOS ANGELES (VIP NEWS) — Justin Bieber makes his third Hot Tours appearance since launching the Purpose World Tour and his first turn at No. 1 on the weekly slate of top-grossing tours. For this recap, $14.5 million in revenue was reported by promoter AEG Live, based on 145,841 sold seats at 10 performances in eight arenas. The highest gross among these venues came from the Chicago market with $2.9 million in sales logged at the Allstate Arena. The two-show run on April 22-23 is the most successful at the box office among venues that hosted the tour for two performances. Only Staples Center in Los Angeles has booked the tour for three nights during the North American jaunt. That engagement (March 20-23) racked up $4.3 million from 41,445 sold seats.

On the road in support of Purpose, his latest album released in November 2015, the pop star kicked off the North American leg of the tour on March 9. As of the end of April, his overall sales from the trek top $40.5 million from 29 concerts. Attendance is logged at 404,496 so far based on sellouts at 25 arenas.

Bieber’s run through U.S. and Canadian markets will continue into July and is set to wrap with a two-night stint in New York City on July 18 and 19. The tour’s second leg will cover 33 European markets and is booked from late August through the end of November.

Paul McCartney scores the No. 2 ranking on Hot Tours with ticket sales reported from two dates on his One on One trek that launched on April 13. His top grosser, a sellout at Verizon Arena in Little Rock, Ark., earned $2.2 million at the box office. The April 30 performance, with 15,317 fans in attendance, was the rock legend’s first concert ever in the city. Two nights later he played the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, S.D., marking his inaugural concert in that market as well. From 10,746 sold seats, he grossed just over $2 million at the sold out event.

Country touring giant Kenny Chesney follows at No. 3 with the opening night performance of his Spread the Love Tour that kicked off at Auburn (Ala.) University’s Jordan-Hare Stadium on April 23. The concert, with a box office take of $4.1 million from 48,423 sold seats, was the first of 13 stadium dates booked through August. Miranda Lambert, Sam Hunt and Old Dominion joined Chesney for the event that capped Auburn’s Music and Miracles Superfest, a benefit for cancer and hunger relief.

Along with the stadiums, Chesney will also include a host of outdoor amphitheaters and summer festivals on the trek through U.S. markets that is set to wrap on Aug. 27.
