DETROIT (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Live Nation has filed a lawsuit against the owner of the Freedom Hill Amphitheatre, alleging breach of contract, fraud, conversion and unjust enrichment over concerts Live Nation promoted at the shed in 2009.
In the suit, Live Nation alleges that Freedom Hill owners Hillside Productions owe the promoter more than $320,000 in ticket proceeds from 5 concerts LN produced there in 2009, but instead of making good on their debt, Live Nation alleges that Hillside is trying to get them to produce more ten more shows at the shed in the summer of 2010 to serve as a 'catalyst' for Hillside to make Live Nation whole.
"[Hillside] has unjustly attempted to coerce Live Nation to produce additional shows at Freedom Hill by posturing that this is the means through which Hillside would have incentive to remit" Live Nation alleged in their suit.
This isn't Freedom Hill's first brush with the courts and the Amphitheatre has been the subject of numerous legal action in the past. In 2008 Macomb County won a $250 million lawsuit brought against them where Hillside Productions charged Macomb County with interfering with proposed merger with Palace Sports and Entertainment. The court awarded nothing to Hillside and $21,000 to the county for a counter-suit. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
