David Mantel has been named president, Zomba Music Publishing (a division of BMG Music Publishing). Based in New York, Mantel will oversee Zomba Music Publishing’s pop music operations in the U.S. He reports directly to Nicholas Firth, chairman and CEO, BMG Music Publishing Worldwide.
Prior to joining Zomba, Mantel was a music industry attorney whose clients included Rob Thomas, 3 Doors Down, Fred Durst/Limp Bizkit, Staind, 50 Cent, Method Man, Mary J. Blige and Def Jam Records. He also ran a production/management company where he developed recording artist Ellie Lawson and other artists. Previously, he was a senior executive at Def Jam Records from 1998-2000. Prior to Def Jam, Mantel was a lawyer with entertainment firms Katz Smith & Cohen and Pryor Cashman Sherman & Flynn. From 1985-1990, he was a partner at Mantel & Shapiro.
