Marcus Named Executive Director Music For Youth Foundation

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Music For Youth Foundation (MFY), a recording industry charity that supports music education programs for underprivileged youth and provides scholarships to aspiring student musicians, has appointed former New York Grammy head Jon Marcus executive director. Marcus will be responsible for overseeing all activities of the foundation from fundraising to financial grants and scholarships.

"The Music For Youth Foundation is pleased to announce this outstanding addition to our organization," said MFY President Elliot Goldman. "I am confident that with Jon's music industry experience and his leadership skills, we will be able to increase our support of the nation's finest music education programs and provide college scholarships to outstanding young musicians."

Prior to joining MFY, Marcus served for a decade as executive director of the New York Chapter of the Recording Academy–the membership organization that presents the Grammy Awards. He was responsible for all academy activities in New York and New England including industry and community relations, sponsorships and event conceptualization and production. During his tenure, the New York Chapter dramatically increased its impact and influence in the New York region setting new standards in the development of groundbreaking events and initiatives, corporate sponsorships and membership growth.

Before the Academy, Marcus held a number of positions with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers) culminating with his appointment to assistant director of Radio Licensing. –Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
