LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) – The day before the Beach Boys were set to assemble at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles after winding up their successful 50th Anniversary tour, the band's singer and lyricist Mike Love announced that he plans on resuming touring with the latter configuration of the band, minus Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks.
Love, after years of legal battles, controls the Beach Boys name and indicated that he was concerned about the band wearing out their welcome.
“You’ve got to be careful not to get overexposed,” Love told the Los Angeles Times. “There are promoters who are interested [in more shows by the reunited lineup], but they’ve said, ‘Give it a rest for a year.’ The Eagles found out the hard way when they went out for a second year and wound up selling tickets for $5.”
The Times reported that Love's decision took the other members of the band by surprise, leaving them disappointed.
“Brian is very bummed,” Wilson’s manager, Jean Sievers, told The Times. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
