NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) –Mogwai announced on their web site that they were sad to have had to cancel their remaining American and Canadian shows due to ill health. Their other dates in Europe and Japan will be going ahead as planned. Mogwai will re-schedule the American shows in 2009.
In a statement on Mogwai’s website Martin was taken into hospital last night almost immediately after the show at ATP. He had been having some problems with his pacemaker for the duration of the tour and it unfortunately culminated in his being sent to the emergency room. The doctors there initially thought he would have to have corrective surgery at a larger hospital nearer NYC but he has been given the all clear to travel home on the understanding that he go straight to his cardiologist on arrival back in Scotland.
Martin says he is really bummed about having to go home and feels for the folk who had bought tickets for Mogwai’s upcoming shows but he can honestly say it would be almost impossible for him to carry on at this point as his pacemaker has broken skin and the surrounding area has become infected. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
