SYDNEY (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Social networking site MySpace and Australian ticketing outfit Moshtix have joined forces to offer MySpace tickets for Australian events.
This development hasn't been entirely unexpected, since MySpace's parent, Rupert Murdoch's News Ltd purchased Moshtix for an undisclosed amount in January of this year.
"At a macro level, to tie a ticketing company into a social network such as MySpace is an advanced and intelligent concept which will raise the bar in the ticketing industry and create a third major player." Michael Jacobsen, a Sydney-based venue operator and promoter told Billboard after the sale.
The deal will allow both companies to collaborate on promotional efforts and provide MySpace users with value-add content like pre-release ticket access and special offers, not to mention a convenient way to purchase tickets.
