ATLANTA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — R&B artist Ne-Yo and a booking agent have been hit with a $700,000 lawsuit over an alleged no-show for a 2009 gig in Trinidad.
Ne-Yo had originally been booked to perform a 'Boxing Night' gig on Dec. 26 in the Port of Spain, Trinidad. The gig was rescehduled in early December of 2008 to take place in April 11, 2009 but Ne-Yo allegedly never showed.
According to the court documents, the show's promoter, Trinidad-based Roy Maharaj founder of Tristar Promotions had paid an advance on the show of $130,000, $6,300 in booking fees and spent $409,970 to secure Queens Park Oval as a venue and for transportation and accommodations for the artist. The court filings also claim that Tristar had sold 6,750 tickets, which had to be refunded to the tune of $300,000.
Tristar, through their lawsuit, are seeking $709,977 from Ne-Yo and the middle agent, Troy “Fats” Byam and BBM Booking and Management in recompense for the alleged no-show. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
