(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Gabba Gabba Hey!, a new musical that features the music of the Ramones that debuted in Perth Australia in August 2004, is finally heading to the United States.
Michael Herrmann, who penned the musical’s book, told Playbill.com that a showcase performance of the show will be presented March 19th at the South By Southwest Festival in Austin, TX. An off-Broadway run at New York’s Zipper Theater is expected in May.
Theatergoers will hear Ramones classics such as “I Wanna Be Sedated,” “Beat On The Brat,” “Blitzkrieg Bop,” “53rd & 3rd” and “Sheena Is A Punk Rocker.”
Herrmann described the show to Playbill.com: “Think Grease-on-speed and you’re on the money – albeit with a generous dollop of colorful Lower East Side characters.
