Russia Opens Criminal Investigation Into Bloodhound Gang Flag Incident

MOSCOW (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Russian authorities have opened criminal proceedings against American rock band The Bloodhound Gang, who've been accused of “inciting hatred and enmity” against Russia during a performance in neighboring Ukraine in July.

In a statement on the website of Investigative Committee, Russia's primary federal investigative body, a statement on the incident accused "musicians D. Franks, J. Hennegan and other unidentified persons entered into a criminal conspiracy to commit actions aimed at humiliating the human dignity of Russian citizens on the grounds of nationality." The statement went on to say Russian officials are considering whether to add the band members to their list of wanted criminals.

During the performance in question in the Ukraine, the band's bassist Jared Hasselhoff (AKA Jared Hennegan) pushed a Russian flag into the front of his pants and pulled it through to the back, later throwing it out into the crowd, telling the audience, "Don't tell Putin," a reference to the Russian president. Following the incident, the band lost a spot on a major Russian festival and were expelled from the country. – Staff Writers
