LONDON (Hypebot) – A downed Seeqpod may be farther from re-launching than CEO Kasian Franks had hoped. Microsoft is interested in buying some of Seeqpod's assets from Chapter 11 as Hypebot reported Friday. The problem for Franks and the many fans of his playlistable search engine is that the tech giant does not appear interested in the music part of the Seeqpod's assets and only wants the others if they come at fire sale prices. "Seeqpod is indeed speaking with Microsoft, but not about an outright acquisition. Rather, it is trying to negotiate a piecemeal sale of its technology assets and find new jobs for its core technology team," reports Techcrunch's Erick Schonfeld.
Score one more Pyrrhic victory for the major labels: another popular music discovery engine has been destroyed.
