(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — SMG has been awarded a contract to manage the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, LA by the new owners of the facility, the Ascension Parish Council. "We have been excited about the potential of the Lamar Dixon Exposition Center since we first viewed the facility, and we are dedicated to maximizing its use for a wide variety of events," stated SMG Regional Vice President Doug Thorton, "We have already been in contact with a number of promoters who have shown interest in bringing events to Ascension Parish."

The Lamar-Dixon Expo Center, originally built by Mary Lee and Bill Dixon, who then turned it into a multimillion dollar charitable gift to the Ascension Parish community, is a state of the art multi-use events facility that supports charitable organizations and community development. The facility includes more than 530,000 square feet under one roof, including two show arenas seating up to 5,000. The facility holds pens, eight barns, a trade mart building, a 4-H building, a fully equipped commissary, a YMCA, chapel, and 5,000 square feet of banquet and meeting space.
