Spidey Holds On To The Top In Weekend Box Office


LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Sony's "Spider Man: Homecoming" had another strong weekend in the box office, holding on to the top spot in worldwide box office receipts and adding an estimated $117.5M to its overall haul, according to figures compiled by comScore.

While Spidey managed to stay at the top across international markets, Fox's "War For The Planet Of The Apes" seized the top spot in domestic box office revenue over the weekend, earning an estimated $56.5M in the market during its debut. Internationally, the movie broached the hundred million mark but just barely, generating an estimated $102.5M worldwide.

Universal's "Despicable Me 3" continued to chug along at #3, both internationally and in North America, adding $89.9M across all markets and pushing its cumulative worldwide grosses north of $600m.
