‘Super Lift 2005’ at Arizona Cardinals Stadium

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The new Arizona Cardinals’ Stadium have hit the halfway point in the massive construction project by raising the roof. The 11 million pound, computer-controlled structure lift, is the heaviest roof ever lifted in North America, an architectural feat dubbed “Super Lift 2005.”

The roof list took over two weeks alone, and included several stops for inspection. Construction on the stadium is now halfway complete, with a planned opening for August of next year.

The new stadium will have a retractable roof as well as a retractable grass field, on a movable tray, which should be completed by April.

The Cardinals will start playing on the new field in 2006. The Fiesta Bowl will move to the stadium in 2007, and then Superbowl XLII in 2008.

The 63,000-seat facility, which will eventually be expanded to 73,000 seats, is also expected to be host to many other events during football’s off-season. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
