LOS ANGELES (a href =http://www.hypebot.com target = blank>Hypebot) – You know that Universal Music fully understands the importance of streaming when they name respected digital music and streaming marketing pioneer Jay Frank to the newly created post of Senior Vice President of Global Streaming Marketing.
Universal Music Group has named music and media industry executive Jay Frank to the newly created role of Senior Vice President of Global Streaming Marketing. Frank founded music and marketing analytics companies DigSin and DigMark, and previously held executive positions at Viacom's CMT and Yahoo!
In addition to hiring Frank, UMG is partnering in his two music tech startups. Frank founded DigSin as a singles-focused company that leverages streaming promotion to foster artist growth. He later added DigMark to design and implement data-driven music marketing campaigns.
At Universal, Frank will be responsible for using data and analytics to maximize the performance of UMG artists across streaming platforms. He'll also oversee the curation of the company's global playlists, as well as, work with non-UMG playlist curators building on many of the techniques and relationships that he pioneered at DigSin and DigMark.
"Streaming is opening new opportunities daily for artist discovery leading to strong bonds between artists and fans," Frank said. "Successful campaigns will lead to enormous opportunity for new releases and catalogue alike."
After joining UMG, Frank and his team will remain in the Nashville HQ of DigSin and DigMark. He will report jointly to Michele Anthony, EVP of Recorded Music, and Andrew Kronfeld, President of Global Marketing at UMG.
