PASADENA, CALIF. (CelebrityAccess) One of the worst-kept secrets of this year’s Rose Parade in Pasadena, Calif., was that the Forum in Inglewood was not only including its own float in the event but that Earth, Wind & Fire would be performing on it.
“Happy New Year to my beautiful family, friends and fans!!,” the band’s Verdine White tweeted and posted on Facebook Dec. 31. “EWF is honored to be performing on The Forum Float this years 129th Annual Rose Parade on Monday!! See ya there and have an amazing New Year!!”
The 17,505-capacity venue, which was reimagined by the Madison Square Garden Company and reopened in 2014 with six concerts by Eagles after $50 million in renovations, is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. The “Fabulous” Forum broke ground in 1966 and opened December 30, 1967, making today’s float an anniversary celebration almost to the day. Among the venue’s first major accomplishments was its design, which removed major support pillars, opening site lines throughout the arena.
The venue held its own New Year’s Eve celebration featuring John Mayer and Dave Chappelle.
Happy New Year to my beautiful family, friends and fans!!
