LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) Although the Billboard Music Awards won last night’s primetime slot, it hit an all-time low in fast affiliates.
The awards show, broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, was up against Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals on cable, a 125-83 win by the Golden State Warriors over the Houston Rockets, which put TNT in the top spot of all cable with a 5.8 rating in metered market results, according to Deadline Hollywood. The awards show was also up against “American Idol” on ABC, which dived 24 percent from its May 13 show, Deadline noted.
Last year, the Billboard Music Awards saw a 16 percent drop from its 2016 ratings. Last night’s show had a 2.1/8 rating despi8te Janet Jackson getting the Icon Award and Texas-born host Kelly Clarkson talking about gun control.
The big winner, Ed Sheeran, did not attend the show although Taylor Swift did.
