NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess) — Mike Owens, a fixture in the Nashville music scene and a longtime label exec, died on Sunday night after suffering a heart attack, according to a report in MusicRow.
An inaugural member of Artist Nashville’s promotion team, Owens most recently served as the Vice President/Creative at the Nashville-based indie music publisher Sea Gayle Music.
In 2014, Owens was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease and had been on the kidney donor list for four years, enduring daily dialysis and had undergone several amputations.
A benefit concert, Music For Mike, had been announced for Sept. 25 at War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville. The concert, which will benefit his family to help defray medical costs, will proceed as planned and features an all-star lineup of Artista Nashville alumni, including Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Brad Paisley, Blackhawk, Diamond Rio, Lee Roy Parnell, Pam Tills, Phil Vasser and others.
He is survived by his wife Radeana Menhusen Owens and their daughter Savannah, Music Row reported.
In addition to the benefit concert, a GoFundMe https://www.gofundme.com/fundraiser-for-mike-owens me page has been established to help the Owens family with expenses.
