SYDNEY, NSW (CelebrityAccess) — Warner Music Australia has launched a joint venture with Australian indie distributor and label services company Inertia Music.
The new venture, which will be called the Music Distribution Coalition, will handle the entire physical distribution and supply chain management for both Warner Music Australia and Inertia Music.
The team at MDC will be drawn from both companies and take on all of Warner Music Australia’s physical repertoire operations including production, warehousing, distribution, shipping, shared retail sales and customer service. This agreement will run alongside Inertia Music’s existing physical product activities.
The new partnership will go into effect on October 1st and MDC’s sales and distribution operation will be overseen by Yvonne Cho, Inertia’s Director of Label Services. However, both Warner Music and Inertia will have their own dedicated sales managers within MDC who will continue to develop retail strategies for their respective labels.
Inertia Music provides sales & distribution services for Beggars Group, Elefant Traks, Flightless, Kobalt, Stop Start, and others. Inertia Music also provides additional marketing and PR services for labels such as Farmer & The Owl, Ninja Tune, Pieater, Secretly Group & Warp Records.
Inertia Music recently joined [PIAS] Group and provides full-service sales and marketing for its roster of record labels including ATO, Bella Union, Different Recordings, Heavenly Recordings, Mute, [PIAS] Recordings, Transgressive and more.
