VERNON, British Columbia – Jon James, a Canadian rapper known for performing death-defying stunts, was killed in an accident while shooting a music video.

According to the Canadian Press, James was shooting the video in Vernon, British Columbia, on Saturday, and walked out onto the wing of a Cessna airplane as part of a stunt for a video shoot.

However, his management team told the Canadian Press that he went too far on the wing and unbalanced the plane, sending it into a tailspin.

However, as Jon got further out onto the wing of the plane, it caused the small Cessna to go into a downward spiral that the pilot couldn’t correct,” the statement from James’s management team said. “Jon held onto the wing until it was too late, and by the time he let go, he didn’t have time to pull his chute. He impacted and died instantly.”

The statement went on to say that the pilot was able to regain control of the aircraft and land safely.

James was no stranger to danger and his music videos frequently included stunts ranging from parkour maneuvers to a dangerous form of skydiving known as BASE jumping.

Before he ventured into music, he was a professional skier but switched professions after he suffered a broken back and shattered heel in a skiing accident.

He is survived by his wife, parents, and brother.

A GoFund me page has been set up in his memory.
