SAN FRANCISCO (CelebrityAccess) — Three people were injured during a performance of “Hamilton” on Friday after members of the audience panicked when a woman suffering from a medical emergency in the theater coincided with a scene that included staged gunfire.
A spokesman for the San Francisco Police Department told the San Francisco Chronicle that the confusion at The Orpheum arose when a woman suffered from a sudden health issue occurred at the same time as an actor fired a gun on stage as part of the play.
Some in the crowd assumed from the noise and the woman’s condition and rushed out of the theater.
According to the Chronicle, three people were injured in the rush to flee, including one individual with a broken leg.
San Francisco Fire officials confirmed to the Chronicle that a woman with a “medical emergency” was transported from the Orpheum to a nearby hospital, and is in critical condition.
After the confusion, the crowd returned to the theater, the Chronicle said.
