LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – Warner Chappell Music has entered a joint venture with the producers of the hit musical Six for all songs included in the show, the company announced Thursday (Aug. 8). The publisher additionally signed a separate futures deal with Six writers Lucy Moss and Toby Marlow.

Warner Chappell’s partners in the joint venture agreement include Paul Lisberg of Loudmouth Music and Six producers Kenny Wax, Global Musicals and George Stiles.

Commenting on the deal, Moss and Marlow said in a statement: “We wrote Six to bring a fresh perspective to the story of Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr, bringing them out of the shadow of Henry VIII. The show connects with audiences everywhere and our partnership with Warner Chappell Music will help us take it to even more fans worldwide.  And we’re also fizzing with ideas for future shows — we can’t wait to get to work!”

Added Warner Chappell Music UK managing director Mike Smith: “Musical theatre’s undergoing a global renaissance right now and it’s self-evident that Toby and Lucy can be at the heart of the new creative explosion. As well as writing and directing Six, what really excites me about working with them is developing them as songwriters for contemporary artists. We’re already bringing them into writing camps and see a terrific future for them in this area, as well as musical theatre.”

Moss and Marlow wrote Six, which centers on Henry VIII’s wives as they enter a singing competition with contemporary songs, as a student project while studying as undergraduates at the University of Cambridge. The musical, which features an all-female cast and band, premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2017 before moving to the Arts Theatre in London and eventually touring the U.K. and North America.

According to a press release, Six is currently the second highest-streamed soundtrack in the world, with its songs logging 350,000 streams per day. Additionally, the tracks “Don’t Lose Ur Head” and “Get Down” have generated nearly three million user-generated lip-sync videos on TikTok.

Six is slated to premiere on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theater in February 2020.
