NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — The Lehman Center for the Performing Arts officially started its 40th this month after undergoing a multi-million dollar refurbishment.

The $15.4 million redesign, which began in November 2017, added 5,400 square feet of new space for the PAC, and includes a revamped lobby and main entrance, bringing the venue fully into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

New upgrades at the 2,278-capacity Lehman also include brand new theater seating and new elevators for patrons to access the theater’s balcony seating.

Other changes at the Lehman include a rehabilitated box office and new restrooms, along with a newly-refinished floor and new carpeting in the main theater.

“During this milestone year, Lehman Center proudly welcomes audiences and community members to the top entertainment destination in the Bronx, which is now better than ever,” said Eva Bornstein, Executive Director of Lehman Center for the Performing Arts. “The improvements that have been made will help ensure the comfort and convenience of all who attend our world-class performances and events.”

Funding for the project was provided by the Office of the Governor, New York State Legislature, Bronx delegation of the New York City Council and the Office of the Bronx Borough President. Additional funding was provided through a ‘named seat’ initiative and from corporate partners such as Goya Foods, Inc. whic became the chief sponsor of the Center’s performance season.
