(CelebrityAccess) – Taylor Swift published a statement via Twitter Thursday (Nov. 14), claiming that ex-label boss and founder of Big Machine Label Group (BMLG), Scott Borchetta, and the label’s new owner, Scooter Braun, will not allow her to perform a medley of her hit songs during the American Music Awards when she is honored as the Artist of The Decade.

In the note to her fans, Swift explained that Borchetta and Braun are forbidding her from performing any of her early works because it would technically count as “re-recording” her music before she is contractually able to. Swift announced earlier this year that she planned to re-record her back catalog once she was able to come November of 2020, as a way of reclaiming some control over the music she lost when the label was sold to Braun back in June.

BMLG has been reported to make up to 80% of its revenue from Swift’s music. If she re-records her back catalog, it could have a significant impact on the label’s sales.

“I’ve been planning to perform a medley of my hits throughout the decade on the show. Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun have now said that I’m not allowed to perform my old songs on television because they claim that would be re-recording my music before I’m allowed to next year,” Swift wrote.

Swift also announced in the note to fans that Netflix had been making a documentary about her life, however, discarded the project after Borchetta and Braun refused access to her back catalog and early performance footage.

“The message being sent to me is very clear,” she added. “Basically, be a good little girl and shut up. Or you’ll be punished. This is WRONG …

“Right now, my performance at the AMA’s, the Netflix documentary and any other recorded events I am planning to play until November 2020 are a question mark. I’ve tried to work this out privately through my team but have not been able to resolve anything.”

Swift went on to say that Borchetta told her team that she can use her music only if she agrees not to re-record “copycat versions” of her songs next year and stops talking about both him and Braun.
