In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), MSP’s Sixth District expressed their condolences, writing, “Please keep the family and friends of Kevin Graves in your thoughts during this difficult time.” The cause of death is still undetermined, and police noted it “may take several months” before results are available.
Kevin’s father, Gary Graves, shared his thoughts in an interview with WXMI: “Thanks to everybody for the support they gave us and the prayers they’ve given us. At least now we can have a little peace.”
Following Kevin’s disappearance, his family had worked tirelessly to find him, distributing flyers and even creating a billboard near the festival grounds asking for any information about his whereabouts. In an interview with MLive, Gary Graves mentioned that authorities were “99% sure” his son’s remains had been found, as hunters who discovered the body also located his wallet, phone, and a festival wristband.
An earlier investigation in 2018 revealed that Graves had been seen arguing with his then-girlfriend shortly before he went missing. A witness told authorities they had seen him walking away in tears after the argument. Kevin’s father described his son as someone with “a heart of gold,” noting how loved he was by his friends and how much he cared for others.
