(CelebrityAccess) — Patti Scialfa, musician, longtime member of the E Street Band, and Bruce Springsteen’s wife, revealed that she has been undergoing treatment for multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer.
Scialfa, who is 71, revealed her condition in a new documentary about the E Street Band that debuted in Toronto Film Festival, according to People Magazine.
According to Scialfa, her medical condition and compromised immune system limits her ability to participate in the band’s touring.
“I have to be careful where I go and what I do,” Scialfa says in the film, Entertainment Weekly reported. “That’s my new normal right now.”
“Every once in a while, I come to a show or two and I can sing a few songs onstage, and that’s been a treat,” she added in the film. “That’s the new normal for me right now and I’m OK with that.”
Scialfa has been a member of the E Street Band since 1984 and married The Boss in 1991. The couple has three children together.
