TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) – Jon Box, Universal Music Canada’s vice-president of label partnerships and business development, has passed away at the age of 45.
Box’s family confirmed he had lost his battle with mental illness at Toronto’s Michael Garron Hospital on September 20.
Box began his career in the music industry nearly 25 years ago working in record stores in his hometown of London, ON. In addition to his role with Universal Music Canada, he volunteered with the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), was a board member of the Toronto Music City initiative, and raised money and awareness for the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research, MusiCounts and the Unison Benevolent Fund.
Box is survived by his wife Heather Wright and their daughters Amélie and Tallulah.
