WOMAD USA, held in Redmond, Washington since 1998, has been cancelled this year due to lack of sponsorship. However, officials of the World Of Music, Arts and Dance festival, co-founded by artist Peter Gabriel, said it will return to Redmond next year, having secured a long-term partnership for the three-day event.
Since 1998, WOMAD USA has been presented in cooperation with Seattle producer One Reel. Last year there was no partner. The festival has never shown a profit.
WOMAD, which started in England, will take place in other parts of the world this year in Spain, Greece, the UK, Singapore, Sicily, the Canary Islands, Australia and New Zealand.
