MELBOURNE, Australia (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Australian live entertainment industry association Live Performance Australia (LPA) has finished compiling its 2005 review of the live performance industry in Australia and the results tell a story of a booming industry.
Live entertainment in Australia is on the rise, according to the report and contemporary music plays a large part of that, responsible for more than 30% of the live industry's revenue.
Profits are up too. Live entertainment in Oz generated $834 million dollars (AUD) in ticket sales revenue in 2005, an increase of 21 percent from 2004. Ticket sales only increased by 10 percent during this same period while event attendance increased by more than 17 percent, meaning there were more freebie tickets to be had but there was a significant price increase in the sale price of tickets.
The LPA Ticket Attendance and Revenue Survey was conducted using a unique transactional-based Survey consisting of two data collection sources – the major Ticketing Companies and the Australian Major Performing Arts Group (AMPAG) companies, via the Australia Council for the Arts. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
