TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) — Canadian pop heartthrob Justin Bieber has plead guilty to charges of simple assault and careless driving following an ATV accident involving his former girlfriend Selena Gomez and a pair of paparazzi.
According to the Toronto Star, the 21-year-old Bieber received an "absolute discharge" on the assault charge and faces a stiff $750 fine for the careless driving, avoiding both jail time and probation in the incident.
The judge presiding over the case admonished Bieber to "think before you act in the future."
"Everybody in life, no matter who they are, encounters difficult and disappointing and surprising situations," Justice Kathryn McKerlie told the youthful pop star. "And part of maturing, of course, is to make sure that when you encounter those situations that you proceed calmly and think before you act."
The charges stem from an incident that occured last summer in Stratford after a crash between a minivan and an ATV offroad vehicle that led to a subsequent confrontation. No one was injured in the incident and one of the photographers in the case later pled guilty to trespasing, Bieber's attorney, Brian Greenspan told TMZ. – Staff Writers
