Colbert Taps Jon Batiste For Late Night Bandleader

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Incoming "Late Show" host Stephen Colbert has named New Orleans musician Jon Batiste as the newest bandleader for the show.

Batiste, who comes from a long line of well-regarded New Orleans musicians attended Juilliard and recently appeared as himself in HBO's hit show "Treme."

"His music makes the audience feel so good, we may have to install a 'Do Not Make Love' sign," Colbert said in a statement announcing the news.

Batiste added, "I'm thrilled! This is a match made in heaven. Get ready for a love riot in late night."

Batiste succeeds Paul Shaffer, who served as bandleader for David Letterman's long tenure at the helm of the show.
