SYDNEY, Australia (CelebrityAccess) — Big Day Out promoter AJ Maddah revealed on Twitter that the festival would still be on hiatus in 2016 was unlikely to return until “2017 at earliest.”
"With the pissweak state of the AUD$ and general availability of bankable headliners I would guess 2017 at earliest," Maddah tweeted in response to a question about the festival's return.
The festival, considered one of the highlights of the summer festival season had grown into a multi-event tour when it was acquired last year by C3 Presents following two years of partnership in the festival. When C3 announced that there would be no BDO for 2015, last year.
“C3 Presents is proud to own Big Day Out, one of the most iconic and established festival brands in the world. While we intend to bring back the festival in future years, we can confirm there will not be a Big Day Out in 2015,” said C3 in a statement announcing the cancellation.
Since then, C3 has itself been acquired by Live Nation.
