The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is introducing Radio Bonnaroo, a series of monthly one hour syndicated radio specials. The music on each Radio Bonnaroo episode invokes the spirit of the Bonnaroo Music Festival and features one hour of music including spontaneous collaborations, rare live performances, commercially unavailable songs, interviews, b-sides and remixes. The highlight of each show is a segment called Hotel Bonnaroo – a unique, previously unheard studio collaboration. Two artists are invited into a studio for one day to record a song that will be heard exclusively on Radio Bonnaroo in nearly 70 radio stations nationwide.
Episode 1 Synopsis: Radio Bonnaroo opens with Dave Matthews and Friends covering Peter Gabriel’s classic song “Solsbury Hill.” The song features Trey Anastasio on guitar. Later in the program, Trey sits down to discuss his future plans, takes a look back at Phish and talks about the spirit of collaboration. The episode is also filled with musical gems including unreleased music from Gillian Welch, a live jam from Wilco, an exclusive Josh Stone performance, new Jack Johnson, a rare Bright Eyes tune and a visit to REM’s tour rehearsals. The highlight is a visit to Hotel Bonnaroo for a never before heard collaboration between Warren Haynes and Gomez.
