FRESNO, CA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Red Rocker Sammy Hagar is reportedly getting ready to build a Cabo Wabo Cantina restaurant and night club at Granite Park in Fresno, California, having secured property and a construction crew for the project.
Milt Barbis, president of The Village at Granite Park, announced last week that the club will open this fall, according to the Fresno Bee. He said a company affiliated with Hagar has signed the lease. The deal was confirmed by Hagar’s tequila business publicist, Ketchum Entertainment Marketing.
Hagar, the former Van Halen front man and longtime solo musician, opened the first Cabo Wabo in 1990 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. His Cabo Wabo tequila brand was launched shortly afterward.
When asked by the San Francisco Chronicle why he chose Fresno, Hagar reportedly replied, “I’ve been to Fresno. There’s nothing to do. I’m opening a Cabo Wabo. They’re going to have something to do.” –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
