David Byrne To Perform At Keys' Black Ball

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Talking heads frontman David Byrne has signed on to perform with Alicia Keys at her annual Black Ball Fundraiser to benefit Keep a Child Alive, a charitable organization dedicated to fighting HIV/AIDS that Keys helped to found.

Byrne told Billboard that he "immediately" agreed to participate in the event and that he was both "flattered and excited by" the opportunity.

The 2014 edition of the Black Ball will be held on October 30th at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York and Givenchy’s Artistic Director Riccardo Tisci will receive the KCA Humanitarian Award at this year's gala.

Over its 11-year history, the Black Ball has raised over $22.6 million for children and families affected by HIV through the Keep a Child Alive charity. Last year's Black Ball alone raised $4 million with an event that featured performances from Alicia Keys, Pharrell Williams, Carole King, Roy Ayers, Kathleen Battle and Laura Mvula. – Staff Writers
