SOUTHAVEN, MS (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — After a year-long evaluation, the DeSoto County Convention and Visitors Bureau's board of directors have instituted a staff reorganization at the DeSoto Civic Center.
As a part of the shift, former Assistant General Manager Todd Mastry has been promoted to the role of Director at the venue, due in no small part to his experience in booking arenas.
"After looking at each individual, the board decided Todd had been such a good booker, bringing high revenue events," board president Charles Tackett told the DeSoto Times-Tribune. "We didn't want to lose those skills and he has exhibited really good leadership skills."
According to the DeSoto Times-Tribune, the reorganization has also eliminated the roles of general manager and assistant manager, folding the duties into the executive director's portfolio. The board also eliminated the role of human resources manager, with duties being folded into the role of director of business operations. The elimination of these jobs will result in an annual savings of approximately $200,000.
The DeSoto's former general manager Stuart Taylor and human resources manager Sara Shain have both been let go from the organization, the Times-Tribune said.
"I think all of us were reluctant to terminate people who have been there for years and performed well," Tackett added. "There was apprehension and lots of discussion." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
