eMusic Debuts Streaming Radio Beta

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Somewhat forgotten in the hubhub surrounding the U.S. launch of Spotify, eMusic has launched their new Internet radio feature.

Currently in beta, the radio offers eMusic subscribers access to streams of songs curated by eMusic's staffers across a wide range of genres. The music is streamed through a flash player that allows users to continue to browse eMusic's site while the stream remains active. And if a user clicks a sample, the player will stop the current stream and play the sample, requiring a user to restart the player once the sample is done.

Currently, U.S.-based subscribers are eligible for ten hours of streamed content per 30-day billing cycle and listeners are limited to skipping only six songs per hour.

While the player does not allow users to specify artists that they'd like to hear, eMusic is hoping that the radio will be a music discovery driver. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
