SAGINAW, MI (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Construction on the FirstMerit Bank Event Park is on track to be completed ahead of the venue's inaugural performance on August 15th.
According to the Saginaw News, finishing touches on the $2.275 million venue have almost been completed, including signage for the naming-rights partner, FirstMerit Bank, as well as electrical work and fencing.
Managed by SMG, the 5,500 capacity FirstMerit Bank Event Park is a part of The Dow Event Center (formerly, the Saginaw Civic Center), which is also operated by SMG.
“We are less than a couple weeks out from our first event and don’t see any major issues at this point. We are pretty pleased, all things considered,” Matt Blasy, general manager for The Dow Event Center and FirstMerit Bank Event Park told the Saginaw News.
According to Blasy, initial uncertainty about the venue's completion date August calendar a little sparse, but as the opening date neared, they started booking.
“We weren’t too sure about the completion date, so it was hard to book too aggressively, but it has worked out perfectly, with the inaugural event the Rock ‘n Rib Fest,” Blasy added.
Events on the books for the Park in August include The Saginaw Eddy Concert Band on August 15th, Michigan Rock ‘n Rib Fest on Aug 16-18, Queensryche, Great White and Slaughter on Aug 24th and the Saginaw Wonderfest on August 24th. – Staff Writers
