COLUMBUS, OH (CelebrityAccess) — Frederick "Dennis" Greene, one of the original members of the do-wop revival band Sha Na Na, has died. He was 66.
Sha Na Na, which formed at Columbia University (first as the Kingsman) in 1969 rose to national attention when they performed at Woodstock in 1969, helping to revive the 'greaser' style that hearkened back to the 1950s and serving as a sharp contrast to many of the acts they shared the festival stage with.
The group continued to tour and in 1978, they landed a television show for which Greene both appeared in as Denny and served as the principle choreographer.
Greene eventually left the group and earned a degree in law from Yale University, becoming a professor of law at University of Dayton School of Law.
