Frank Erwin Center Expands Security

AUSTIN TX (CelebrityAccess) — Representatives from the Frank Erwin Center are beefing up security for a Selena Gomez concert scheduled for the venue on Friday.

The new security measures include walk-through metal detectors at every entrance to the venue and restrictions on the size of bags allowed, Austin360 reported.

The venue will restrict bags to a maximum since of 12” x 12” x 12", which will fit under the arena seats. Concert-goers who attempt to enter the venue with bags larger than the permitted size will be asked to store them in their vehicles or to discard them. An exception will be made for medically necessary items, but they will be inspected, Austin360 said.

The Frank Erwin Center joins numerous other venues enhancing security after a series of high profile shootings at concerts and public venues in recent weeks.

“The safety of our guests and employees are our top priority,” Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director John Graham told Austin360. “These new security procedures are just one part of our larger enhanced security plan including increased security on non-event days.” – Staff Writers
