Free Tix Make Hot Water For Dallas City Council

DALLAS, TX (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The practice of some current and former city officials of requesting free tickets for shows at Live Nation's Superpages.com Center (formerly the Smirnoff Music Center) has become a point of controversy in the city.

According to documents obtained by CBS 11, hundreds of requests were made by council members from Live Nation, the company retained by the city to operate the Superpages.com Center.

Many council members claim that they were unaware of there were legal and ethical questions surrounding the ticketing with one council member pointing CBS to the fact that the requests were issued on council letterhead, thus without an attempt being made to conceal them.

Not everyone felt the same way. Mayor Pro Temp Dr. Elba Garcia made numerous ticket requests but she was was careful to always pay for her tix.

"I think it looks bad when you ask for free tickets when most people can't get free tickets," Garcia told CBS 11.

The city council has recently implemented a band that bans free concert tickets from city contractors. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
